By applying our modified ultra-slow microdialysis probe, we can now monitor compound levels in all relevant compartments. We measure jugular vein total compound and free fraction levels, as well as compound levels in brain, spinal cord and subcutanous tissue. We have also modified our sampling method for CSF, which is now sampled from the cisterna magna of freely moving animals. This allows for more frequent sequential sampling.
As we use state of the art analysis equipment (API 5000™ LC/MS/MS System) we require a minimal sample volume for compound analysis. The remainder of the samples can be used for the analysis of biomarkers (neurotransmitters/peptides etc). It is possible to focus on a specific biomarker of interest or apply a broad biomarker screening using our SymDAQ method to analyse up to seven neurotransmitters in a single run.
